Dear Mr. Andrews had been wonderful in transferring all my belongings from my old apartment to the new rooms next to Marion. Heâd taken the time and arranged my things exactly how Iâd left them.
Granted, the new rooms were a bit smaller and lacked the faded opulence and grandeur of the old, but for me, my new apartment was a little piece of heaven. The walls were a pale blue and some rooms had wallpaper. My canopied bed was unusually large and with a delicate ecru satin draping. And the most glorious part was that Marion lived and breathed in the rooms next door!
I went directly to my new quarters after supper. Iâd hardly been able to eat the delicious chicken Mrs. Milbanks had baked so excited was I after my afternoon with Marion. I had to avoid the questions and the questioning looks from the staff and merely smiled all night long.
As I removed my dress, I ran a hand over my neck and my face where Marionâs lips had caressed me. I closed my eyes and imagined her tender kisses again. Was she in her room this minute? Had she undressed? Would she be insulted and angry if I knocked on her door?
I lacked the bravado to do what I so badly wanted to do. Instead, I donned my night shirt and lay quietly in my new bed, trying to still the excited beating of my heart. How would I be able to even contemplate sleep with the knowledge that Marion was only a thin wall away?
I must have dozed off to a light sleep, for I awoke with the slight sound of a door latch closing. I had turned down my lamp, my room illuminated only by the rays of a very full moon high in the sky.
She stood bathed in the moonbeams piercing through the window. Marion Dunraven appeared like a vision in a dream. Her black tresses tumbled unbound down her shoulders, her body covered only by the sheerest of night robes. She was completely bare underneath. I held my breath and raised myself in bed.
âMarion.â
She walked quietly to me, her perfectly shaped breasts and entire body luminous. The dark triangle of darkness between her legs contrasted with the milky beauty of her body.
âIâve come to you, my darling Olivia, as wreckless and devoid of restraints as you wanted.â
I stood up to stare unbelieving at the vision before me. Was she real? Was I sleepwalking and this a mere fantasy?
When she put her hands on my shoulders and removed my nightshirt over my head, I knew it was not a dream. The fire that raced through my body threatened to consume me. I thought I would go mad with desire. I pulled her close and kissed her deeply, untying the satin band that held her robe and slipped it off her shoulders.
The heat from our bodies should have ignited the sheets on the bed as we lay together as close as two human beings could. She slipped one knee between my legs and I could not help a moan as she pressed against me.
